It has been a long long time since I did one of these, a lot longer than I thought actually, seeing as the last one was in 2018.
And since I feel like I currently have some products that I truly love to use on my hair, I figured I would finally do another hair care routine.
First of all, a little bit about my routine, although not much has changed since last time. I try to wash my hair only once a week, preferably on a Sunday so it is nice and clean for the new week. I always rinse it with cold water after I wash it, I heard years ago that is should help keep your hair frizz-free and shiny, and now it is just a habit. I also always wrap my hair in an old cotton t-shirt to dry it instead of a towel. Again something I picked up years ago that I just never stopped doing.
I try not to use dry shampoo it I don’t really REALLY need to, because I feel like it makes my scalp a bit itchy, but if I do use dry shampoo it is always the Batiste brunette one. I brush my hair with a tangle teezer, I don’t think I’ve used a normal hair brush in years, and I never ever use heat on my hair. I don’t own a straightener, I don’t own a curling wand, and I know I have a hair dryer somewhere, but where…? It’s not that I don’t like the look or because I made a very conscious choice to not use heat, I’m just too lazy and I don’t want to spent the money on the heat tools. Besides, my hair doesn’t really hold curl anyway.
Now that we got all that out of the way, let’s get into my current favourite hair products.
Let’s start with my in-shower products, because why not? I normally actually try to apply a hair mask to my hair a few hours before I shower just to let it sink in really well, but sometimes I forget or I am too busy, and then I skip that step. I also just noticed that stupidly I put the conditioner on the left and the shampoo on the right, when I should have done it the other way round. Oh well..
I have recently started using the Kérastase Specifique Bain Prévention shampoo. I have no idea what it means, but according to my hairdresser this should help calm down my scalp en prevent dandruff, which is something I do suffer with a little bit. So far, I like this a lot. I cleans my hair nicely, and although I haven’t noticed much of a difference in how my scalp feels just yet, I do know that Kérastase is a a great brand that I have liked a lot in the past. And, I mean, I’ve only used it twice, I probably just need to give it some more time.
For conditioner I use the Naïf Softening Conditioner. Again a relatively new product in my routine, but I love it a lot so far. The brand is apparently a natural one, which is always bonus points in my book, and the product itself also feel lovely on my hair. My hair feels so soft and nourished without feeling weighted down or anything, so I am very pleased so far.
For some extra nourishment I use two products. Again, I stupidly switched them around in the photo, so we’ll start with on the right.
Like I mentioned before, I try to always use a hair mask when I wash my hair, and it is actually the first step in my hair washing routine. A few hours before I shower I wet my hair in the sink and apply the L’Oreal Elvive Dream Lengths mask all over. I then tie it in a bun and leave it to sink in until I shower, where I wash it out with the shampoo and conditioner mentioned above. I am not too loyal to my hair masks, I haven’t found that holy grail one yet, but I do like this a lot and I think I might pick it up again when I run out. My hair feels soft and nourished after using this, and has a lovely shine to it. I feel like, because I wash my hair only once a week, this is a pretty essential step in my routine.
An extra product I have been using recently is the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse dry oil for face, body and hair. I add a few sprays of this to my hair mask, I apply a few sprays of this to my wet hair after washing it, and I try to remember and apply a little bit to my hair on third day hair, just to add some nourishment and shine. First of all, the scent of this is divine, I love it so much and lasts well on my hair. It leaves my hair, again, feeling so soft, shiny and nourished but it doesn’t make my hair greasy, so definitely loving that. And this product just feels quite luxurious to use, which just adds bonus points. I mean, look at that pretty bottle, I love it!
And that is pretty much all that I do to my hair at the moment. I feel like it is a quite simple routine, and I love it that way. I go to the hairdresser once every 3 months and so far I never have to loose more that maybe 2 cm at the time, if that. Which is a good thing, because I am trying to grow my hair to around my elbows at the moment.
Have you tried these products and what are your thoughts? Any holy grail hair products I need to know about?
Thanks for stopping by ❤
