TBR 2019 May Update

We are 4,5 months into the year, so I thought it was time for a TBR update.

At the beginning of the year I shared my TBR list for 2019, a bunch of books that I wanted to read this year. Now that we are a third of the way through the year, I thought I’ve have a look at what I can cross of this list, and what maybe has been added to it. I’ve been pretty good with reading so far this year, so I feel like I have done a pretty good job so far of reading things I wanted to read this year, but let’s see if that is actually the case..

I listed 6 books, series or collections in total, four of which I have finished so far. The first one I finished was the Percy Jackson series, I read all five books in about a month and a half and loved it. It were such quick, easy reads, and I was also just really in the mood for a book (series) like this one. You can read more about what I thought of each book here and here.

I then finished Lies Sleeping by Ben Aaronovich, another one I absolutely loved. I cannot wait to read more of his books, he’s got a novella and a full novel coming out later this year (or so I’ve read on the internet) so I luckily don’t have to wait too long.

Then I dove into the Penguin English Library part of my TBR. I wanted to read more of them this year and so far I’ve read one which I think is pretty good. The one I read, At The Mountains Of Madness, was pretty good (click here for my full review). I’m not crossing this one off my TBR for this year though, I definitely still want to read more of my PEL books in 2019.

And the last one, Save The Date, I have just finished. I knew I did not want to read it at the beginning of the year, but rather wait for the weather to warm up a bit, wait for summer to be a little closer, as Morgan Matson’s books are definitely summer reads. The weather still wasn’t great when I read this, but it has made me excited for summer. More on this book come’s in my May Reading Wrap Up 😉

The two books or series I’ve yet to read are Call Me By Your Name and the Harry Potter series. Both will stay on my TBR, although I’m not sure if I will finished all the Potter’s this year. I’ve just not been in the mood for the books anymore, like I was at the end of last year. Maybe it’s an autumn thing for me, we’ll see.
Call Me By Your Name is one I am saving for when summer really truly hits, or should hit at least. I am still very excited to read this, and then probably watch the movie.

And now let’s have a look at the books I have added to my TBR for the rest of the year.

First of all, high on my list of books I want to read are more Penguin Little Black Classics and Penguin Modern booklets. These are easy, as they are only around 50 pages long, so I will have no problem working my way through them I currently have 2 unread LBC’s and one Modern, but I plan on picking up more once I finish these.

Next up, I already told you in my Bookish Wishlist that I wanted to read more Agatha Christie books, and so I’ve put one on my TBR. This is Appointment With Death, a Poirot book, and the only Christie on my shelves that I haven’t read yet. When I finish this, and I will, I am going to pick up more. I just don’t know which ones yet..

And lastly, a Dutch book. Well, it is originally written in German, but I have the Dutch translation. This is De Schapen Van Glennkill by Leonie Swann. The literal English translation of the title is The Sheep Of Glennkill, but I believe the official English name is Three Bags Full (thanks for the info, Google). It is basically about a bunch of sheep that are trying to solve a murder, and both my parents really enjoyed the book so I thought I’ve give it a shot. It’s been a while since I read any books in Dutch, so I am interested to see how I like it.

That’s it for my TBR 2019 update. I think I’ve done pretty good so far, I have read a bunch of them (and some that weren’t on the list) and have also added some exciting new ones. I’m not sure if I will get to all of them, but I’m sure as hell gonna try!

Thanks for stopping by ❤
