Currently Reading – Winter 2019

Wondering what’s on my Goodreads Currently Reading shelf? Yea, me too.

I thought I did one of these posts maybe a year ago, but it turns out it is waaay longer than that. The previous post I did that was like this was in June 2017. Whoa, definitely time to do another one.

Want to know a terrible secret though? I already know that some of the books that were in that post a year and a half ago, are still on that shelf. Some of the books I started reading yeeeaars ago, I never continued reading. I plan on reading them this year though!

But then again, I’m pretty sure I also said that in June 2017 😅 Anyways, there are currently 7 books on my Currently Reading shelf. Not too bad, I think. Let’s see what those books are..!

The Turn Of The Screw – Henry James

Yea.. So I haven’t picked this one up in over 2,5 year! How terrible??!! I feel like I just didn’t start reading this at a good time, I wasn’t really into classics yet, and apparently this just didn’t really hold my attention. I have been thinking about it lately, mainly because I enjoyed Ghost Stories by M.R. James so much, and I am hoping to read this one this year! Maybe around Halloween…?

The Adventure Of The Engineer’s Thumb and Other Cases – Arthur Conan Doyle

Another 2016 book.. Oops? I feel like I just didn’t really feel motivated to read this because I wasn’t really into short stories when I tried to start this. However, if you have seen my TBR list for 2019 you will know I definitely intent on reading – or at least continuing – this one before the end of the year!

Winter – Marissa Meyer

I have talked about this book quite a few times, both here on the blog as well as on my Bookstagram account. I don’t know why, because I looooooved the first 3 books in this series, but this fourth and last book in the Lunar Chronicles series I just cannot seem to get into. I do want to finish it one day, it is even on my bedside table to remind me, I just don’t know when that will be.

At The Mountains Of Madness – H.P. Lovecraft

I really got into this for a while there, although I did struggle with the writing style. I think that is the reason I stopped reading this after 28 pages, well and the fact that summer books kind of took over. I hope to finish it this year though, as I am actually really interested in how the story will play out.

Lies Sleeping – Ben Aaronovich

But that is actually not true, as I have read a few pages of this on in 2019. I am now on page 83 and although I am taking a little break because of another book series I just need to read right now (more on that later), I do definitely plan on continuing this after I finish that one. Can’t wait to see what kind of trouble Peter is getting himself into this time!!

Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix – J.K. Rowling

Another book I put on my TBR list. I plan on reading the last 3 Harry Potter books this year, and already started this one last November. I took a little break after binge reading the first 4 and watching all the films in a very short amount of time, but I will be surprised if this is still on my Currently Reading list at the end of the year.

Percy Jackson And The Titan’s Curse- Rick Riordan

This is the book series I just had to read right now. I’ve been so in the mood for Percy Jackson, so I am reading Percy Jackson, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I have finished the first 2 books already and have just started book 3, which means just 2 more to go before I can start working my way through all the aforementioned books again.

I am kind of ashamed of how long some of these books have been on this list, but I also feel like I will work my way through at least a few of them in the next year or so. But what can I say, I’m a mood reader, and when I’m not in the mood for something I will not pick it up. However, doing this post has made me excited to read some of these, so maybe my next mood will be finishing a book I started years ago…

Anyways, like I did with my last Currently Reading post in 2017, I think I will do an update on this in a few months time to see if I actually managed to finish some of these books. Maybe when summer’s here…?

Is there a book that you started reading but haven’t picked up in a while?

Thanks for stopping by ❤
