Weekly Highlights #6

I used to hardly ever wear sneakers. Boots, ballet flats, heels and sandals, yes. But sneakers, no thank you.

I wore them because they were practical, but not necessarily because I liked to style them. These days however, I love them not only because they are comfortable but also because they are cute and easy to style and fun amd go with everything. These days, sneakers often end up in my list of faves or weekly highlights.

So, in case you hadn’t guessed it yet, today I am sharing a pair of sneakers I’ve been obsessed with lately.

They are the Nike Internationalist sneakers, and I’ve actually had these for about two years now, and am only now falling absolutely in love with them. The story behind these is like this: about 2,5 years ago I wanted a pair of sneakers that weren’t Converse. I wanted black, simple, easy to style and comfortable. I did a bit of research (aka went on Pinterest), saw these in all black and loved them because they are – I think – a classier, sleeker sneaker, not super sporty, and that’s what I liked about them because at that time all I wore on the flat shoe with laces department were All Stars. However, I couldn’t find these anywhere so ended up going for a different type.
Then, a few months later, G and I went to the Nike Outlet in Utrecht, and guess what: I found the Nike Internationalist there. In my size. For only €35,-. STEAL! They clearly aren’t all black, instead they have a grey side and back, but I actually like that about them.
But like I said, I didn’t actually wear them a lot for the past 2 years, as I quickly got other sneakers that I wore more (looking at you Adidas Superstars) and for some reason I just didn’t reach for them. However, about a month or two ago I decided to give my other current favourite sneakers, the Adidas Gazelles (as seen in my last 5 Faves post) a break, so I took these out as a replacement. And I fell in love all over again. They work for every day casual wear but I could also easily get away with them at my internship, as they are a bit more classy than for example my Superstars. They are comfortable and cute and go with so much, and I actually haven’t missed my Gazelles so far, which is a very good sign as those were the sneakers I’ve reached for almost every time for the past year.
Yes, I would highly recommend the Nike Internationalists to anyone looking for a sleek and classy sneaker, especially if you can find them for as good a price as I did 😉

Thanks for stopping by ❤
