5 Faves – January 2017

A new month has come and gone, so it is time for my January 5 Faves!
It has been a weird month, lots of traveling back and forth between Delft, where I have been temporarily living with my mom, and Utrecht, where my boyfriend and I are watching his dad’s house, and more importantly, his adorable dog, while he is away. It was hard not really having a home base, but that will all change in February.. 🙂
It was a month of snow, rain, wind, cold, but also many beautiful days, and let’s be real, a sunny day when it has just snowed is so very pretty, even though it is also very cold.

But enough about the weather this first month of 2017, let’s get into my 5 favourite things this January.

1. Hema Long Lasting Nail Polish 222 Night Watch & Hema Long Lasting Top Coat
A bit of a cheat, because technically these are 2 items, but it is the combination I have been loving the most.
Just like in December, this Hema nail polish in 222 Night Watch is the only polish I have been wearing this month. It is a perfect January colour for me, dark but not black, neutral, goes with everything, I love it. Like I said in my previous post, Hema polishes are so cheap (€2,50 to be exact) but really good in my opinion. And the Hema top coat, oh my heart. This long lasting top coat blew my mind. Nail polish chips so fast on my nails, even with a top coat usually, but this one kept my polish locked in place for a surprising amount of time. I did the dishes, showered, washed my hair, and after 7 days I barely saw any chips. Definite favourite right there. A bonus favourite in this category is this whole 1 nail polish a month thing that I’m doing, it is so much easier than having to pick a colour every time I want to paint my nails.

2. Marc Jacobs – Decadence
Next up, my favourite perfume. This is the only scent that I brought with me to Utrecht, and I don’t mind it at all. It is so good, it just feels like a winter scent to me. It is, however, also quite expensive, but luckily I don’t finish a perfume all that fast because I like to switch up my scent every so often, so I won’t have to repurchase it any time soon. But it smells so good, and I highly recommend just giving it a sniff next time you’re in a perfume store!

3. The Body Shop Tea Tree 3 in 1 wash-scrub-mask
One of my favourite skincare brands, The Body Shop. One of my favourite body care brands as well, I might add. I like to use this particular product about twice a week to wash/scrub my face, and one of those time I usually apply it as a mask beforehand so really cleanse my pores. I am afraid that if I use it more often it will dry out my skin a bit, but using it this way I absolutely love it. It leaves my skin feeling soft and cleansed and I really feel like it clears up any spots that I might have. I also love the fact that it is a 3 in 1 product, because that way I don’t have to buy a separate mask or scrub. Pretty genius, if you ask me.

4. Adidas Superstar Shoes
I have been going back and forth on whether I wanted to put these in my 5 Faves this month, because they are not just favourites this month but have been ever since I got them last September, however I obviously decided to add them, because out of the 3 pairs of shoes I took with me to Utrecht I have been wearing these the most by far. They go with everything, are surprisingly warm, and are So. Flipping. Comfortable! Which is probably why everyone and their mother has these shoes. So yeah, definite favourite of mine.

5. Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) (& the little weird back ring hold thing)
Not a book favourite this month (although I did finish one this month that I really liked, more on that in last week’s post) but a tech favourite. My new phone, to be exact. I got it on the 20th this month, after having to work with my boyfriend’s old Iphone 4 for a month because my old phone gave up on life, and I am so absolutely in love with this phone. It is waaaaaay bigger than my previous phone which I am still getting used to, but the camera quality is so good (very important to this Insta-addict) and it is fast and pretty and amazing and just perfect.dscn1160_edited
And that little ring thing on the back totally helps with holding it, so now the size doesn’t bother me anymore. It also helps quite nicely with holding the phone when I’m taking a selfie ;).
